WTA Throws a Ball

Friday, June 27

Last Thursday I was lucky enough to be invited to the Women's Tennis Association pre-Wimbledon party at Kensington Roof Gardens.

Technically it wasn't a ball as such, I just liked the tennis pun - sorry!

Anyway, the annual WTA pre-Wimbledon party kicks off the Wimbledon tournament for the ladies and it's always a glitzy affair.

Tennis stars such as Laura Robson, the Williams sisters and Maria Sharapova graced the red carpet, in glamorous dresses as opposed to the usual tennis whites we see them in on court.

I was working the VIP floor with my best WTA pal Tessa. She worked the area like a pro, making sure the players spoke to media and were ready for the party.

I was holding the fort at the signing table, asking the stars to sign giant pink tennis balls and photos of themselves.

After our work was done and dusted, we joined the party downstairs where the champagne was flowing and Ashley Roberts was storming the dance floor.

After a drink (or two), we headed outside to enjoy the buzzing atmosphere on the rooftop. Being a prestigious WTA party, the drinks were in full flow and there was a variety of delicious delicacies on offer.

We munched on barbecued sausages and tubs of strawberries and cream, before heading back to the bar for more cocktails and champagne.

The party was great fun and I met so many lovely people from the tennis and media worlds. Thanks to my lovely friend Tessa for the invite!
